"Fritos Corn-Chip Net Control"
I started in Ham Radio in 1989. LOVE NASCAR (Duh) and my yellow Lab, Shenia. Tom was nice enough to give me some space on his site to post some info and Pics! My current station is the Icom 761 running 150 watts, 2-element 40M Beam @ 63' (my "OUTDOOR" Amplifier), 3-element Mosley Tribander @ 42' for 10-20M, 40M Wire Dipole at 50', Icom 706MKII, Icom 2800M, 4-element 2M beam @ 46', 11 element 440 beam at 40'. I also enjoy the computer. Look me up! Thanks for dropping by, and more pics will be posted soon! You can catch me most evenings on 7.198 with WB4UIC and others, and on the NorthCARS net Saturdays. Best 73!! Bob N7NMY "Pa-Ting!!"
Update 5 July '10
Well, we got the beam down last weekend, and we looked at the coils. Perfecto, EXCEPT for one that had a loose screw (Kinda like the operator, according to "some"). Re-secured all the element to coils screws, and put the thing back together. It is now at 61" off the ground in the TEST mode. I will be doing somemore testing to ensure we got it, and then back up in the air on 24-25 July! Give me a call on 7.198 +/- and see if we can chat while it's on the ground! Wish me luck! Check out the pics of the "De-rection" and rebuild on the "My Pics" link below!
Update 15 Apr '10
Well, the 2 Element beam has issues with the coils shorting out again. Bringing it down the 15th May to replace them and diagnose the issues. Will fix the rotor cable at the same time, and hopefully get the 2 element working again.
Update 10 Sept '08
Well, the beam is back up! Check out pics here of 40M 2 ele @ 63'
UPDATE!!! 26 April 08
Well, the 40M Beam is back together, and ready to hang back back on the tower - when the WX Breaks! So, I will post a picture of it HERE when I have one. Wish me luck!
UPDATE!!! 1 July 07
The 2 ELE 40m Beam is on the ground! Using a 40M/75M Alpha-Delta dipole in the interim @ 50' - Works OK, but not like the Beam!!
I Replaced the feedpoint coil and coax, as I believe the feed point was the intermittent problem. So, the thing is just waiting on a new rotor and it's back in the air! Oh yea -- the ROTOR!!! Well, it was ALL CRAPPED OUT, teeth missing on the thing, and lots of other problems. NO WONDER IT WOULDN'T TURN! Anyway, when I get a new rotor, I'll go back up with the beam and be ready to ROCK-N-ROLL!!!! Look Out - The OUTDOOR-AMP is going back up soon! See you on the bands!!
UPDATE!!! 5 Sep 07
Upon further review of the space and rotator situation, I decided to take the 40M beam apart for the winter - BUMMER! Anyway, I will get it back up in the Spring of '08 with a little help! HI! Still got the 40M /75M wire up, and it does OK for now. More work coming! 08!!!!
Nov '07 - SB200 Re-Build Project
